What You Need To Know

Incorporating Your Business Protects You!

A corporation is a separate legal entity from you. This means that if you do something wrong in your business, or if someone sues your company, they can only get as far as the assets your company owns. Incorporation provides protection for your house or personal assets. This being said, it is imperative to always have adequate business insurance.

We Facilitate Canadian Federal and Provincial Incorporation.

We have prepared a short questionnaire to help you determine whether federal or provincial incorporation is right for you. While we have recently added Saskatchewan provincial incorporation to our service list, only Federal and Alberta Provincial incorporation are included. Click here and the questionnaire will open in a new tab. If you are unsure how you want to structure your business, we recommend speaking to a lawyer or financial advisor regarding which option would best suit your needs.

Some Benefits to Incorporation

In addition to providing protection to your personal assets, incorporation has more benefits. Corporations pay a lower tax rate than individuals and so more money stays in your business to help it grow. If you are trying to get investors, incorporating your company can provide legitimacy to potential investors and also allow you to be listed on stock exchanges.

Business Longevity and Succession Planning

Incorporation allows for a business to continue beyond the life or involvement of its original owners. This can make it easier to transfer ownership, sell the business, or pass it on to family members or successors. Additionally, having a formal corporate structure can increase the value of the business over time and provide stability for long-term planning.

Incorporation Pricing

It can be difficult to determine the exact pricing for incorporating your business. Government fees vary based upon several factors: the structure of your business; the location of your provincial or extra-provincial registration; even which registries agent you go to!

Due to Alberta registries having control over their own pricing, the deposit reflects covering these costs. Any unused funds would be returned to you, along with proof of expense. This is only applicable for Alberta Provincial incorporations or Federal incorporations that are registering in Alberta.
